A New Year’s note to 2021 - January 1, 2021

Dear 2021,
 Please be good to us
And be kind.
Teach us to diligently heed the lessons
which some of us learned in 2020
Like
The importance of respect and mutual consideration
The primacy of health and reverence for life
The imperative to generously help people in need when measure to keep us safe might not keep everyone secure.
The value of the advice of true professionals.
The intangible significance of connections across the distance
Or six feet apart and masked.
Remind us that responsibility is an all important quality
To seek in our leaders
And that attaining or keeping power by maintaining control
Rather than by engendering cooperation and partnership
Is ultimately fleeting.
Focus our gaze on what we see in the eyes of our fellow human beings
Fear
Sadness
Concern
Hope
Elation
And may we respond with the support that will enable us all
To journey on
During our world’s new circuit of the sun.

Happy 2021, everyone!
