I am like an Israelite - Daily Minyan Reading - April 25, 2024

As the sun descends at the end of
Another day of our festival of freedom,
I am like an Israelite walking on dry land
Between the towers of waters on either side
With our long line of brothers and sisters,
Generations longing for liberty.
Above are the dark clouds and swirling winds
holding the sea in place as we step forward.
The pursuers chasing us
 represent the oppression and despair
That we left behind in Egypt
And the darkness there in which we still found each other
And sustained our collective strength.
The light ahead as we cross this sea bed
Signifies the promise of our future
Knowing that there may be pursuers yet to come
But we will elude them once again
Because of our persistent hope
That, whether in light or darkness,
We can still find within the family of humanity
People who share our belief
that a Oneness holds us together.
May that Oneness continue to guide us now.
