As Yom Ha’atzmaut concludes -  for Israel’s 75 years

God of all the earth,
Guide of our people’s journeys
Through these many centuries,
Be with us as we dedicate ourselves to sustaining our heritage
And enriching our lives
Wherever we dwell,
Whether it be here where we reside
Or in other communities across the globe
And in the land of Zion and Jerusalem.
We pray for the brightness of your wisdom
to shine upon us on our best days
And we seek the light of your love at times when we stumble,
When our focus becomes too narrow
When our eyes and ears fail to see and hear
The people around us
With whom we could establish partnership, cooperation and understanding.
Teach us to carefully use power in a way that engenders freedom
And encourages the pursuit of fairness and justice.
Instill in our leaders and in us
a sense of responsibility for all that we do
So that we will choose every course of action with care.
May our contributions to the human family
Be a source of pride
And a beacon of hope.
With each night
And every morning,
May the sun, moon and stars illuminate the holiness within us
And may Your Oneness bring us together
To dispel hatred
To eliminate despair.
And to foster peace in the heart of everyone in our world.

Eternal One,
Creator of the Universe
Who rolls light away from darkness
And darkness from light,
Teach us to allow the brilliance of Your presence
To see the people we encounter
As whole individuals
So that we will look inside them just enough
To recognize that, most of the time,
They want to view us in the most positive light.
When someone asks for help, may we offer assistance without fear.
When a person who is lost seeks direction,
may we properly point them on their way without any thought that they may attempt to cause us harm.
When our fellow human beings simply desire honest affirmation for who they truly are,
May we open our ears, minds and hearts to them
Based on respect, compassion, understanding, and generosity,
Offering them the brightness of our very souls
That will seep through any barriers that may exist between us.
God of night and day,
May each evening end with a sense of satisfaction
For how we spread Your Oneness among our neighbors
In the hours that have passed
And for how we will resolve to do the same, in the days to come.

Eternal One,

Creator of the Universe,

You have created day and night,

Sun, moon, planets and stars

Endless galaxies in which we are

But a small part of all life, everywhere.

When we are inspired by Your teachings,

We have the power to open our eyes and

To recognize Your light within every human soul.

There should be no masters, no slaves,

But equals, partners, walking along a common path

Towards growth, achievement, cooperation, and freedom

Founded upon an underlying love that emanates from You.

We lament the divisions based in arrogance

By which some would lay claim to inherent superiority,

Sadly emulating ancient Pharaohs and autocrats of the distant past.

May we become prophets in our own time, like Moses and Miriam,

Leading people to liberation that leaves slavery behind

And offers a future filled with mutual respect, understanding, true joy and enduring hope.

Bless us with visions of liberty

As we remember crossing the sea, once again,

As one people

With One God as our guide and companion.
